The Jets and Giants have announced that they will now share a stadium since each team only uses half the field. Badabing...

And, as the Minnesota Vikings don't seem to have the slightest idea of what a football field is used for, will just go ahead and play the rest of their home games on the Twins' baseball field. - badaboom

Down around here bragging rights carry alot of value.
Every year we have the "Red River Classic" with the University of Oklahoma versus the (2) University of Texas.
The last five yrs have been a pretty sad story for a Texan. But yesterday that changed dramatically when UT whopped OU 45/12.
UT has a house full of talent that will run through another 2 or 3 yrs.

... and every year we out here on the left coast get jobbed by the mythology generated by a right leaning media ... we all know how a certain southern california university with a red and gold traveller (you know, the team that has 28 straight victories, and its only loss was in the last 3.5 years was in three overtimes to another nationally ranked team) had to stand on the sidelines while a team that LOST its league championship game was invited to the big dance and how last year a bearish team from the middle of california was outed from a bcs berth by a lower-rated team when last minute secret balloting in texas allowed the very same u of texas of which you are so proud to take its place (which seems to be the norm in the sporting world just as it is in the world of national politics) ... hmmm

;D I can only agree to a certain point. UT is my alma mater. Mack Brown (UT coach) is quite the politician and has lost many fans because of it. But Vince Young & Co. are deep with talent. It would be fun to see USC & UT at the end of the year, but I don't think it would be the bludgening that USC put on the University of Oklahoma last year. Hook em Horns!!! BTW, Dubya is a Yale guy.

Wow!!!!! Scott, did you happen to see the USC vrs Notre Dame game today? Notre Dame was winning 31-28 with 7 seconds to go. USC runs the last play to just short of the goal where it's fumbled and goes out of bounds. Notre Dame fans and players run onto the field thinking they had won but wait...the fumble and out of bounds ball stopped the clock and 5 seconds were put back on. Fans are cleared from the field, and USC gets another play and scores to keep thier streak going. Whew!

Yawn! ... What else did you expect? Oh, I watched a bit of it ...
NOT
I planned my whole day around this game. I used to go to the Colosseum to watch USC vs Notre Dame back when I was in high school (saw the Trojans lose 45-0 one year, then, two years later, saw Anthony Davis score six touchdowns against the very same devils in green), and I try to see the game every year. I watched every minute. Squirmed quite a bit ... couldn't believe the fourth and nine pass, couldn't believe a running play (even if it was Reggie Bush) with under a minute to go, and almost died on the fumble ... but I SAW the ball come out, and saw the referee waving for time out (also the other referee first signal touchdown, then also wave off the clock), so knew there were at least 7 seconds left ... agreed with the announcers that Matt L was going to spike the ball to get time to plan the last play, and almost died when they stood him up at the goal line.
Am I happy?
Is Little Feat a good band?
This is why they are the best team in the country. By the way, I made two mistakes in my last post. THIS victory was the 28th in this streak. Before Cal beat them (their last loss), they had won 11 in a row. Add those numbers up. That's 39-1 in the last four seasons. One quarterback from this team has turned even the Cincinnati Bengals around. Some say the Saints are being moved from place to place to so disorient them that they will finish with the worst record in football, get the first pick in the draft, pick Matt Leinart, then move to LA and its guaranteed ticket sales built around a star!
Texas? Oh, they beat a pretty good Colorada team today. Can they beat the Trojans? ... anything can happen in high quality college football, but I don't think they stand much of a chance. It looks like we'll get to see, though. Buy your tickets to Pasadena now

So...Texas was 1 yard and 7 seconds from being "numero uno". Damn!
I'm starting to think either Matt Leinert or Vince Young for the Heisman.

What a great World Series match-up! The Chicago White-Sox haven't been there since 1959 (and the Cubs go back even farther than that), and the Houston Astros have never been there before. In fact, it's the first World Series to ever include a team from Texas. Now that's just hard to believe! Mike, I know you're from Texas Rangers country, but you gotta be somewhat excited about those Astros, yes? It's gonna be fun to watch. BTW - Game 1 went to the Sox 5 to 3.

Mike, I know you're from Texas Rangers country, but you gotta be somewhat excited about those Astros, yes? It's gonna be fun to watch. Absolutely! Yep...it's hard to believe with Texas residents like Mickey Mantle, Nolan Ryan, Roger Clemens, and many others that a Texas team hasn't been in the WS, but when you have people like Dubya running BB programs in Texas.... (oops, wrong thread) My youngest son played ball here with Kerry Wood who's with the Cubs now. That kid threw as hard in high school as he does now! Houston's fairly new field, "Minute Maid Park", was initially was built as "Enron Field"... but that didn't last long (sorry..I can't help it). How bout them Cowboy's and Longhorns???!!!!

Mike, I wasn't aware of where exactly the Astros play their home games other than to observe that the ballpark looked to be fairly new when I watched a little of the Cardinals-Astros series. And I think the Texans have their own stadium too? If that's so, what has become of the Astrodome? A rather large facility to be used solely as a place of refuge. Is it strictly concerts and the like there now? Just curious

Chad, Reliant Stadium is the new Houston Texans field that sits right next to the Astrodome. I haven't been in it, but from driving by, it appears to "dwarf" the Astrodome. I'm not sure they know what they are going to do with the Astrodome, but I've heard they will eventually tear it down. Lots of history there. Last time I was in it was in '95 for an Astros game. Minute Maid Park is downtown Houston. Both are very nice fields. We'll be getting the new Texas Stadium ('09) here in Arlington, right next to The Ballpark (now Ameriquest Field ), where the Rangers play. Last week I said that I saw the Cowboys have the ugliest win I ever saw. Today they had the ugliest loss I ever saw against the Seahawks! From 1st to last in the NFC East in one week! Bledsoe giveth, and Bledsoe taketh away. ***The Astros just tied it up 6/6 in the 9th!!!!!!!

Hmmm...you could be right Farmboy. I haven't been watching Marcus Vick. I think at the end of the year the conference they come out of plays into a lot of it.
BTW, I'm in Houston for a couple of daze. No..I'm not at the first World Series game in history to be played in Texas; but I am just up the road at the hotel watching it on TV. It's tied up 5/5 in the bottem of the 10th!!!!
Go Stros!!!!

Hey ... we can talk until we are blue in the face about who is "number one", but it don't mean a damn thing as long as number one is decided by a vote and not a game! The BCS continues to suck and show just why it is so extremely irrelevant. Texas defeats an overrated Texas Tech, but because Tech had been voted "higher" in the arbitrary polls, the game was of higher "quality" ... meanwhile, Arizona State, which isn't overrated (just has a really tough schedule) has now lost four games (to the number 1, the number 7 and the number 14 teams in the country ... and to another underrated team -- Stanford -- that did receive three votes by the AP for inclusion in the top 25 but won't crack it because it lost earlier in the season to UC Davis), now counts as a "low-quality" game for USC. What a bunch of crap.
In other words, university presidents and bowl committees (not to mention the corporate sponsors and pimps of the whole charade) need to figure it out and design at least an eight team playoff system. This won't end the arguments (why weren't the number 9 and 10 teams invited?), but at least the title will be decided by the players, not a bunch of numbers-only computers!
Marcus Vick IS good, by the way. I would pick him for my team!
