Sometimes even a bad movie might have a killer soundtrack. One such movie (IMO) is a movie from the mid-'90's called Blue City, starring Jud Nelson, where he goes back to his Fla. hometown to find it terribly corrupted, and to avenge his Fathers death.
The movie is not great but...if you have ever wanted to hear Ry Cooder just let it go with some "sleazy, burning slide" you might want to check out this soundtrack. It can be hard to locate, but I found it a couple of yrs. ago on amazon.
Other suggestions...?

Another Ry Cooder sound track, and nice movie to boot, is Paris Texas. Loved it.

You gotta love Harry Dean Stanton!
A couple of other good Ry Cooder soundtracks are "Southern Comfort" and "The Border", a good Nicholson movie that could be based on a true story, any day of the week.

I think the last soundtrack I bought was for a made for TV movie called At Any Cost. I think it was a VH1 original movie or something like that. The movie wasn't real good, but the soundtrack's okay. Good idea for a new thread Mike. - chadgumbo

Mike you stole my idea. No, really you modified it and I like your way better, I was just going to leave it in the movie thread. but it is true "Great minds think alike" . Believe it or not I love the soundtrack from "The Big Chill". I know this movie is the butt of a lot of jokes, I feel somewhat undeserved, but the soundtrack has a lot of good motown and Aretha. For an all original music soundtrack you guys gotta check out P Gabriel's "Passion", some call the albumn, but it was written for "The Last Temptation of Christ". If you think world music is just code for African music listen to this, it is a mix of music from everywhere in the world (I love mixing all kinds of music, that's why I like the Feat so much). Put this on, prepare your favorite refreshment, turn out the lights, light up and listen. Great stuff. I have played this for some real middle of the road music fans and even they were impressed and if you know music like the people on this link obviously do you might have trouble getting this out of you CD player. I've asked before and no one helped but "Desperado" has one of my favorite soundtracks. There is a band on there, among many others, called "Tito and the Tarantulas" kind of a mix of Tex-Mex and R&R and I thought they were great but I haven't been able to find anything else by them. Maybe it was a Hollywood nom de plumne, help me if you can please. The soundtrack also has Link Wray so it can't be bad, "Give me my thrill hammer". "Ulee's Gold" also has a great sountrack which includes Van the Man and "Pulp Fiction" has a great soundtrack. I almost forgot "Philadelphia" another great one. Gabriel, Springsteen and Young; can't miss. Peace j

DPK said oh lucky man in his movie post and it instantly jogged my memory to remember "Oh, Lucky Man". Do any of you remember that "The Alan Price Combo" was the original name of the "Animals"? Being as Alan was the keyboard player I personally think that he deserves the credit instead of Eric Burden. Anyway cut into the movie are performance shots of Alan Price and his post "Animals" combo and the resulting soundtrack albumns is one of my all time favorites. My copy has gone missing and I would love to replace it. Thanks DPK for helping out an old man's memeory. Mike, You are so right about our old rusted memories. I need y'all to help me remember. I never thought I would forget one of my favorite soundtracks and one comment brought it all back in a flash. Peace j

On March 15, 2005 at 8:13 PM Jashley wrote Jashley, I went to cdnow.com and came across the following: Apparently Tito and Tarantula also were on the From Dusk Til Dawn soundtrack as well as Desperado. Also a couple of what are probably studio albums came up. One is called [shadow=red,left,300]Hungry Sally and Other Killer Lullabies[/shadow] and the other is titled [shadow=red,left,300]Little Bitch[/shadow]. A third was listed as [shadow=red,left,300]Andalucia[/shadow]. The artwork on the album covers is a little out there. The first one I'm showing here is from Little Bitch Ah, the life of a spider And the other shown here is from Hungry Sally & Other Killer Lullabies If you decide to order either of these albums, let us know what you think of them. I might interested in checking one or the other out myself. Your buddy in Minnesota - chadgumbo

Chad,
Thanks for the help. That one record cover is something you might want to hide when grandma comes over. I did already know that they worked on "Dusk till Dawn" but not about their full blown albumns. I do think "Desperado" is the more successful of the movies and soundtracks. Thanks again for you help.
You guys brought up Ry Cooder did anyone mention that he did the soundtrack for "Paris, Texas". Harry Dean Staton, Dean Stockwell, and Natasha Kinski (is that right, damn right when I was typing it, it started to look wrong) great movie, great soundtrack. But her face also reminded me of another one "Cat People" great soundtrack with Bowie, so so movie.
Peace j

Chad, Thanks for the help. That one record cover is something you might want to hide when grandma comes over. Both my grandmothers are now departed from this world. And if I'm really really lucky both of those women, whom I loved dearly, have much better things to do in heaven than to be watching over me Once again Jay, I'd really like to know what you think of those albums if you should choose to purchase them. Glad to be of help. - chadgumbo

Hoy Hoy All
In response to your post about if Woodstock was a soundtrack; I think it was actually 2 count'em 2 soundtracks. 2 2 disc (on vinyl) compilations. the first one had all the good stuff and the second was really just some leftovers to milk some more money but there might be a few good things on there,
Sorry about my redundunt post about Paris, Texas. I did the old post and then doh I missed it. Take my post as a big amen on your recommedation. And yes Harry Dean Staton is a pip, and one of my favorites.
Chad, I will be ordering the Tito & material and will let you know if it's worthy of a Feat Fan. I do love their work on Desperado and as mentioned above the extra added attraction of the fabulous Link Wray and his thrill hammer. I would highly recommend that soundtrack as a starter for Tito and the boys. Thanks again.
Peace j
