Vinoy Park is an outdoor venue, but it's a great place to hear great music!
I've posted a hotel listing to Hoy-Hoy but will send a .doc file to any requesters, just drop me a line at dmccarthy@superioralf.com.
Kath I can come up with a few places for a pre or post (pre is more likely, as this will wrap up late Sunday and St Pete is known for rolling up the sidewalks -- unless we want to travel a few miles) and will get these checked out post-haste. Not sure if any one out there has any suggestions??
I will plan on being in St Pete before noon, unless needed earlier and that is not a problem.

Kathy, I've not been posting here, my apologies ... please allow me to catch up (notes below
Dennis, Kat - maybe we can all meet up for early lunch or dinner Sunday since the band's flying in and won't be on stage til 8:30
Lunch would be great, so would dinner!
(you should have load-in info by now, no?).
No, no load-in info that I'm aware of, but could have missed something? What am I looking for Kathy?
my friend Nancy in Tampa to scope some places out this weekend?[/quote]
That would be great, I also have a cousin and a bro-in-law scouting some possibilities for us as we speak. Cousin took care of the posters a few weeks ago, bro-in-law is the ultimate partier and will find us a cool spot no doubt.

Some suggestions welcome for a pre-show gathering place, here are some thoughts on this: The Vinoy sits at the East end of 6th Ave N, and Central Ave is a hub of restaurants and pubs. That would be about a six block walk from the Park. I'd like to first propose the Rare Olive as a watering hole, and within a few storefronts Fortunata's sells pizza by the slice and various other eats (no food at the Rare Olive, just a great pub). This would be within 8 blocks of the Park....but I'm open to suggestions. As you wander towards the East end of Central Ave and then turn North to go up to the Vinoy, pickings start to get slim. We could always just hang out at the Vinoy, but not sure how they'd feel about a large crowd of Feat fans and the atmosphere may not be all that conducive to a raucous good-time.
Any other thoughts?

Here's another, probably better, suggestion for a pre-show gathering: Mid-Town Sundries at the corner of 1st Ave S and 2nd St N, about 7 blocks from the Vinoy. Both drinking and bites to eat available, as well as a room in which we could confine Feat revelry to Feat Fans. We can have our own music with the addition of a boom box. About what time would be looking at meeting, Kat?
Thanks.

That's a tough one. Lunch or dinner, early or late. My vote would be to meet around 2 p.m. Some of us will have to get back to the venue for merch set up. Sure would like to hear from others about their preferences. Please let us know if you plan to attend, we should probably try to reserve the room if we have enough folks. Who's got a boom box? It's almost time to start the party! Let us hear from you! Special thanks to Dennis for his work on putting together the get together! Kat

Den/Kat - The pub sounds great, but maybe the Sundries place would be better since food is also available there. I haven't heard from Nancy (via e-mail), but a mutual friend told me she was having neck and back problems so I probably need to call her. There are 4 of us looking to join you. There was talk early on of us catching a baseball game at 1 since the Feat aren't on til late, but I think that's no longer an issue, so 2 pm for late lunch is fine (Dennis - noon at the pub with Dennis O, Tipi, Rick and Janice might be an option too Rick?).
Send me your cell phone numbers at littlefeatrocks@yahoo.com and I'll send you mine and touch base with you Friday, after we're in town. I'll be off-line after noon tomorrow, but can check back in at Nancy's in case our messages cross.
Rick - Ditto. Let's hook up at the Fest Friday.
Brady? Will you and Jan be coming 2-up?

Laura & I will be attending. Are now planning on staying at the Vinoy. We are driving in the AM and could easily make a 2:00 lunch anywhere near the park sounds good. Just let us know. If you need a boombox, let me know & will bring it along.

Ray, if you don't mind I'd appreciate it if you could bring a boom box along. I think it looks like settling on Mid-Town Sundries is a good idea, as it does offer subsistence and libation in one easy one-stop-shop. I need to do some more research on parking, and will get specific directions out on this board by tomorrow morning, so check back here for more.
Thanx for the offer Ray.

LATE BREAKING NEWS!! PLEASE TAKE NOTE AND READ!!
A new offering has been brought forward as a place to meet and greet and frankly this sounds like the best deal: Dino's. Dino's is at the corner of 2nd and Central, with a parking lot right across the street and a parking garage two blocks up the street in the direction of Vinoy Park. Plus .... this is an inside, the food and drinks are great.
Given the access to parking, I would have to say that this is a better choice than Mid-Town Sundries. Any takers?
Please let us all know, would love to hear some agreement or consensus on this ....sorry about the late change, but IMHO this is a change for the better!

Yo Dennis,
The meet and greet looks perfect. We'll be there with bells on. Thanks for staying on top of the herd of cats and putting some order to the chaos ;-)
We're shooting for being in St. Pete by noon on Fri. Let's get our cell #'s lined up...

The boom box won't necessary at Dino's, Ray, we're working on being able to put some CD's into the sound system so the whole place will get to listen to some of the finest music ever recorded. I believe that will be do-able, but of course there's always a manager or two that has to be consulted with before that's cast in stone.
The advantages of Dino's are compelling though, with the ample parking very close and being closer to the Park (Park -- every time I type it that way, capitalized, I think of Neon Park) than the other choices. It will be a great place to meet. I do wish I could provide the proprieter with some idea of how many people to expect but there's really no fun in that!
I'll provide some more detailed directions tonite or first thing in the morning, once I get the desk cleared (a visit to the tax man never helps me get work done around the office) and will also provide some links to the maps.
More to come, I'm sure.

It has of course occurred to me that putting on a show like this is no small Feat!
