Just got a "fare watch" notice from Travelocity. Really good price on ticket to Jamaica. If I can reserve early, it gives me more dollars to spend on "beach wear" and other necessities.
Pat and I are sooo looking forward to the next excursion and our vote definately is back to the Grand Lido in Jamaica. I even have a suggestion for our friend Cajun Girl. ( We were her upstairs to the left neighbor, hope your doin OK girlfriend!) After several near misses, we moved the couch over so the only way down was via the small stairs instead of that "big step, it's a lulu!!!!

TEXTTEXTTEXTSpeaking of Feat Fan Excursions......how about a mid-year "feat camp" somewhere centrally located - mid west/n.o/colorado/even s.f bay area. The band could play two nights grassroots fans from all over could possibly come and join the party. 2nd suggestion: big party in late october in florida - somewhere near Jay & Donna's place. Two or three feat gigs, bring your motorcycles (brady!), your tequila(m.g./t.q.), and getaway to the south. of course, we could all just jaunt over to europe - it would be nice if Deep South would help organize a featfan package with hotels/travel discounts - sure we could get a group rate. Party in Amsterdam! cheers, bfb

one of the oldest lessons in marketing is that of tiring out your audience, either of interest or $$$ ... too many "excursions" make it too common a thing, not nearly as special or exciting as the once-a-year Jamaica weekend. although lots of us would (if we could afford the time or money) want to spend lots of time away on Feat trips, it would lose its uniqueness after a while: you gotta keep it fresh, new & exciting to keep people's interest. sort of the, "it's been great, but what have you done for me lately?" syndrome ... a little psychology 101

Well ... I disagree. There are alot of diehard fans ... quite a few very active in the grassroots efforts (like me) on the left coast or in middle-America that simply can't afford the jaunt to Jamaica.

Clay is right ... not only is Jamaica cost prohibitive for a great deal of folks [myself included], it's personally WAY too far for me to travel comfortably these days [from Seattle] ... besides, there are political considerations that prevent me from wanting me to go there as well ... I see nothing wrong with having a mid season *special gathering* of the Feakniks somewhere in the US at a time of year when travel [for instance] is less likely to be dicey due to inclimate weather conditions ... though not considered exactly *centrally located*, there sure were a LOT of fans from far and wide that enjoyed the two day Mateel mini-fest back in September 2000 ... at the very least, it would be wonderful to have an additional option My 02 cents, cheRi

I agree with one r ... mateel was not easy to get to, but lots of folks came. Of course, at the time it was a rather unique opportunity ... back-to-back shows in the same venue with feat as headliners, small town with easy access, beautiful "destination" type environment providing some people the only chance they might ever have of seeing the grand redwoods, not to mention a rather kicked-back jamaica-style local community with little police presence (nudge nudge wink wink). Finding such a combination of features within an otherwise busy tour might not be too easy ... still, it could be done ... and if it were, no one would <have> to come; it would just be yet one more way to help build the fanbase and provide a time and place for featsters to hang together. I think more, rather than less, would be a good thing

Apparently somonme in Featville must have forgotten to press the SEND button the mail pc.. I am told (from one of the "best possible sources") that the Feat trip wioll be making a return to Grand Lido Braco Negril .. It will begin on Jan 27, 29005.. Pricing will be the same as last year.... What I was told was that reservations will begin on Monday the 29th,,.. so maybe it is off by a few days! PS.. I think the prior attendess.. wil get first crack..

Mark, Hank and I are going to Texas and N.O. next month and are alerady planning to met up with local fans there. My trip to Chicago and Green Bay last year qwas a gas - mostly because of the other fans I met there -and we planned it all out ahead of time.

I hope lots of folks will come to Colorado for the Labor Day Weekend "Taste of Colorado" show. Not only is it a free show at a nice outdoor park, but we have plenty of room for everyone! Plan a trip here and we will celebrate with a huge free show and lots of good friends. I look forward to it, and hope to see you there!

So why don't you pull one together. ...we planned it all out ahead of time. George is right! We should start talking this idea up on the digest, although I think most folks already take advantage of various road trip gatherings. The trick is to get a good sized group that could negotiate a group rate at lodgings near the venue. Or the FeatFans could select variious rooms/places to stay in one area. What about the Taste of Colorado festival? I understand that show is free.
We had lots of FeatFans decide to go to the two night Mateel event, pretty much on our own but with a little help from Mossman and Jim. Talk about a blast!
Then there was the April 1999 Jazz Fest gathering - we pulled that together on our own, too.

TEXT[/color][/quote][glow=red,2,300]TEXT[/glow]TEXT .....and don't forget the fun gatherings we've had in D.C. area for NYE1999, State Theatre Oct.2001, and the Lisner 25th Anniversary of WFC in Oct. 2002!
I like the idea of the Taste of Colorado, however it would be mo' betta if there was more than one show to attend, or if it was a "special" show (special guest, feat headline, special venue, etc...) versus a festival show, which might have a limited time frame for the band performance. just a thought - hell i've flown cross country to see them play 8 songs and the show ticket cost $100 (Bimbo's, SF 2000 w/ Doobies), and it was WORTH IT! got to meet tony r, mike f, tom p, avery, moss jim, 1R, Shag, Vicki, and many more! any time you travel to see Feat, you WILL enHOY (and likely inhale!).
see some of y'all in harrisburg PA next month! bfb

Mark, Hank and I are going to Texas and N.O. next month and are alerady planning to met up with local fans there. >snip< and we planned it all out ahead of time. Gee ... great suggestion George [why didn't *I* think of that? >g<] ... Hardly a better opportunity than 5 shows in 3 days to start off the 2004 Feat tour ... 4 shows right here in Seattle and 1 in Longview , I *tried* to put out the call as soon as I was aware of the bookings but it appears folks [such as yourself] are more inclined to do the TX/N.O. runs ... sure sounds like fun and I wish you ALL a great time! ... I *have* been successful in hosting some pretty fine events on my own homeground over the years [Poor Italian 4/2000 <---my first official POC assignment ... Paul's B-day bash 7/2001 ... EMP and the Blue Room 6/2003] ... don't know what more I can do to *GET* other people to come to Seattle!! ... since I've become more travel impaired of late, anything further away than California/Nevada and Western Canada is pretty much outta the question [even some of THOSE are becoming questionable!] for me personally, especially Jamaica, which I feel is much more geared to the East Coast/Western European fans [not that there's anything wrong with that ... it's obvious everyone able to attend Feat Camp is quite happy with things as they are] ... in conclusion, I'll remain content to count many blessings that I was able to attend some very special Feat Fan gatherings over the years, including [but not limited to] NYE MD. 1999, Bimbo's SFO 2000, the Mateel 2000, Trick or Feat Falls Church 2000, OZ 2001, Platinum Live L.A. 2002 and Lisner D.C. 2002 ... I've paid my dues [and then some!]
