We'll find them juleps. Zachary's has an outdoor area. I'll ask about their bar and juleps.
Which Yankee boyz doing the fest? You mean hitting the Fairgrounds? That's cool.

cracking myself up.....it's been a long frustrating day at work...I think I need one of those adult beverages.

;D I spoke at length to Denny this morning. We are proceeding on the assumption that the promoter difficulties will be worked out and the show will go on! As things stand, Denny has booked the band/crew into a hotel in La Place (west of N.O.), where I55 and I10 meet, about 20 miles from Southport Hall but for the most part a straight shot down I10 to the New Orleans/venue area. They won't need to go back and forth. They will be on a very tight travel schedule coming in from Victoria TX and leaving that night on the long haul up to Nashville. Denny has to make sure the bus driver gets lots of sleep before these long hauls, so he may need a ride for the crew to make load in around 12:30pm. It may be hard for us to help since so few of us will have cars. The bus driver would bring the bus/band in later. Probably no sound check. We didn't talk about merch, but I'd assume we would need to help some. Slight chance Denny may book rooms a little closer in, but further out allows shorter drive from TX. I just wanted to give a heads up - more details as things shape up. Let's keep our initial plans in place for now. If anyone wants to join us for 6pm dinner at Zachary's Saturday night 5/1 (near the venue), let me know and I'll see about reservations. We're also thinking about hearing the Rads at Tip's Uptown Friday night 4/30. FAISONS le bon temps rouler! Mac

Denny also said that Rocky T told him the same thing I read on the internet about the cops in Jefferson parish - everyone needs to be cool and act right out there - they apparently like to jail out-of-towners, it ain't like Mateel! This even includes being sure to park legally - they also like to tow.
It's a profit center!

Naw, Hank, you two just carry on as usual.... NOT! I don't think even 'closing the door' would help down there in Jefferson Parish.
Now back to the important stuff... I am going to call Zachary's today to make reservations for 12 @ 6pm May 1, to make sure we get in somewhere. It may be 2 tables of 6. If Jim & Darcy's friend Diane comes up with something better where we can get a large group of Feat Fans together @ 6pm without a long wait, we can try that. We want to manage the schedule so we can get to the venue at a decent time, and still spend some time together over a coupla drinks. MsBelle - I'll ask about those mint juleps.
Please click the box at the bottom to get any new postings here - it is an easy way to stay updated. You may have to post to get it to work, I'm not sure.
We will have about 20 FeatFans in all at Southport Hall, plus I am trying to hook up with some of the Pet de Kat Krewe to bring them into the Feat experience. We may also be able to grab some local Feat Fans - we don't seem to have any in the grassroots organization - weird!
This is a good opportunity for us to expand the fanbase. We should be armed with some special Feat CDs to hand out around New Orleans, too - a secret weapon!

I've made the reservations for us for 6pm. Clara, I forgot to ask about the mint juleps but I emailed the question and I'll post the reply. The fellow who took my reservation was obviously a local, judging by his accent.
Zachary's is less than 1/2 a mile from Southport Hall. We could walk (or wobble) in a large group over there after dinner.
I checked out the menu - looks like they have something for everyone in the moderate price range, with an emphasis on creole soul food and seafood.

Clara, I'll check with Zachary's about those juleps. A fine cool drink for a southern belle Hot Tomato Lady and her escort! There is a special price on Jazz Fest tickets - $18 each - if you order a $20 jazz fest shirt. The deadline for this offer is April 8, and a postal money order will be required. Vicky and I are planning on ordering this way.
Here's how it works: Steve Apple <steve@steveapple.com> wrote: Hi Mac, the group ticket thang is a courtesy to the krewe members who are getting shirts... now if the other 12 or 15 folks want to get PDKK shirts, the group offer is available too
The shirt and order form (including the JF ticket special) are at: www.petdekat.com/merch/shirt04.htm
Note the deadline for orders - April 8. This is the official 2004 Pet de Kat Krewe Jazz Fest shirt. These folks are big concert goers and festivalists, so to speak. They support live music. Several of them will be at the Southport Hall show. Let's rock!

Looks like every Jazz Fest gig at Southport has been cancelled except Little Feat. Does anyone know what's going on? Crossing my fingers that this one is still a go....

I've sent an email to Pat for an update. Maybe they were able to get financial backing for the Feat show, but not the others?

The venue has stepped up to promote this show. Pat sez it's a go.
So far for 5/1 6pm dinner at Zachary's (8400 Oak St): Mac & Vicky Hank & Mark Terry, Clara, Mike (not Fenger) - Clara, what's his last name? the Fangmans Jerry & Diane Sangki Kwon Bob Dushin
That's 13. Joe, I know you might not make it.
So we are good as it stands, and we have room for two. If you find out you can or can't come, let me know.
