I just got a press release from the Sioux Falls Jazz & Blues Society. www.jazzfestsiouxfalls.com/ This link is the festival page, click on 2004 Lineup and read all the fine print. As always, nothing is final till it's posted on the LF tour page*, but this sounds like a heck of a deal, I may have to go see that line up, Feat or no Feat. Later * which it has!

As a resident of Sioux Falls, I can vouch for the festival. It is very well done and getting better every year. It is free admission, but a donation will gladly be accepted.
No, I'm not working for the festival.....I'm just a Feat fan!

Hi,
Jim Wright here (POC for the sioux Falls event). Thought I'd throw out a little info about lodging.....
The concert site is located at Yankton Trail Park that is located along Interstate 229 between Minnesota Ave on the east and Western ave on the west.
I-229 cuts through Sioux Falls on the southern and eastern side of the city. The closest lodging to the event would be to the north and west of the site. So when you see addresses like West 41st st., Carolyn Ave., gateway Ave. and Louise Ave. they would be closest to the event. It will take you 5-15 minutes to get to the event depending on traffic.
Addresses on N. Cliff ave. are on the north side of the city, but have quick access to I-229 going south to Yankton Trail Park. (10-15 minutes)
Parking inside Yankton Trail park is tough at best. They have shuttles that take you to and from a couple of sites where you can park. The fee is small like $.50 or a dollar round trip.
If you'd like more info or have specific questions let me know. Thanks, Hope to see you here. Jim Wright

Thanks, Jim. I'ts been several years since I've been back to SF and am looking forward to it. I may try to get rooms closer to the park.
Any plans yet for a meet and greet? I don't recall many of the possible watering holes but I'm sure there's a few more by now. ;D

Hi,
Thought I'd add a little more info about the Sioux falls date. As a reminder THIS EVENT IS FREE!
The festival schedule for July 17th prior to Little Feat is as follows:
Noon Standard Time (local jazz group, good players) 1:30pm Shane Henry 3:00pm Jimmy Thackery and the Drivers 4:45pm Chris Botti 6:30pm the subdudes 8:20pm John Hiatt 10:00pm Little Feat
A meet and greet off site could mean missing some excellent music. Also, with the way the site is set up for this event, getting off site and back would be a challenge. Instead, I propose is meeting in front of the sound technicians area between Chris Botti and the subdudes. There is a good chance Gordo (Gordon Johnson - POC from LA ) will be there as well. We're old friends....he had enough sense to move away from South Dakota!
Since this is my first attempt at being a POC, your patience and input is requested. Thanks. Jim.

Looking forward to it, Jim. Haven't been back to SF since '90. I know people are driving and possibly flying in with unknown ETAs. We'll look for a milling crowd near the sound boards.

Hey DPK...did you record the show in Sioux Falls? You did not happen to tape any of the other acts? If you did tape and would be interested in a trade or B&P please get a hold of me. My list is at db.etree.org/tgallipo (it has not been updated in a long time) Thanks Travis tgallipo@hotmail.com

We did go, we did record, we are working on the shows... many hours before I sleep, so be patient and watch for a posting with details. So far what I hear is good. I pulled the Subdudes, John Hiatt and LF 7-17. On 7-16 I got "that one guy" and LF in Des Moines and on 7-15 I got LF, L. Skynyrd and The Allman Bros. That show was excellent. Stay tuned ;D
