Hi all, I finally downloaded the Rockline appearance LF made back in Oct, and in listening to it, I heard Paul say that the 25th Anniversary of WFC show at the Lisner in Oct 2002 is being traded. I haven't run across that anywhere, and I'd love to get a copy. I can trade or B&P, whichever you prefer.
Thanks!
Dave

Good luck with that. I've been grovelling around db.etree.org for months trying to get a copy. Everybody who has a copy still seems to regard it as non-tradeable or somehow "only for the elite inner circle of traders." You best bet at this point is to either join the band or become a member of the Illuminati. Seriously, if anyone out there is willing to lift the veil of secrecy on the Lisner show I think we'd all be *very* interested. -Ben

OK here is what I heard. Since the band made it very clear they were not going to allow tapers to record, there wishes were respected. Of course someone not on this board or HHD made it in for 3 stealth copies.
Of those 3 stealth recording each one is worse than the next one.
I do have a copy which is suppose to be the best of the 3. I can only imagine the 2 I do not have are unlistenable. In fact the copy I have I played once and put away. Not worth gettin out again.
It is impossable to hear much of the vocals. and so on and so on. The taper moved at some point and the sound varies. Lots of chit chat over the show. Sometimes I hear more aud conversation then music.
Anyway contact me off board if interested. Honestly it is the worse show I have of the over 100 in my list.

well, I know at one time it was considered untradeable b/c the band planned to release a DVD of it. But there were soundboard and mic problems that were too big to overcome, apparently. Last night, after I posted this, ironically enough, I saw a thread in the HoyHoy digest about someone else looking for this show, too. There seems to be some confusion out there about its status. I think it's listed on Featbase as untradeable still. A lot of people may not have heard the Rockline show where Paul says it's trading. I would hope that his statement would be good enough for someone to trade it.

Ctown, you posted as I was writing up my reply. Thanks for the info. I should've suspected that someone would make a stealth copy, even against the band's wishes. I misunderstood Paul. When he said a copy was being traded, I thought he meant the soundboard they'd made that they decided not to release retail. If the stealth copy is that bad, I'll pass. If someone DOES come up with the SBD copy, though, let me know. That was one helluva night, and I'd love to relive it! Thx!

I've seen 10/14/02 on a few lists and I think they indicataed that it was not trade stock.
I think anyone who may have this show would like to have some official statement on Featbase.net as to it's status in the trading community. If it comes off the protected list, I'm sure it will be much easier to pick up.

the sbd copy I heard is pretty bad, with whole sections of instruments missing (the horns, for one) at times and lousy vocals. it ain't worth the space to keep it on yer shelf, to be honest.
as to the band's permission: it falls into the wide catagory of stuff the band sorta doesn't want you to do, yet realizes that people are going to do anyway and since it's not a major problem they've sort of shrugged and said, "yeah go ahead, no harm really, just don't make a big deal of it".
all I know is, if you tried to sell it they would cause you pain, but trading it at this point seems to be ok.
clear as mud, right? well, I've always said that their business life has been as funky ugly as their musical life has been funky beautiful ...
