I'm wondering if there is any way, pre release in May, of knowing which shows the live tracks were drawn from? Any technical info about the whole project would please me to no end. YMMV

Gee, Dave, I don't have a clue. I just got the disc yesterday from D.S. and there is no menton anywhere which specific shows the cuts came from. A little FeatBase investigation will narrow down a few cuts to one to four possiblilities but after that it's a toss up unless you're able to listen to a recording of the show a particular trac was lifted from. Perhaps if everyone sent you a copy of their '04 shows that you don't have yet, you could do this very important research ;D The disc sounds very good, BTW, with only some very minor "bumps" in the transitions between a few tracks. The disc was produced as an "Imaginary live concert" and in that mode there are no two second gaps of silence between tracks. The seamless blending of crowd noise taking us from song to song which are not of the same venue is not an task, so on whole I give it two thumbsup... Great idea, BTW, wonder if that's ever been done before The liner notes tell us that it's a gumbo of sources; Howard's FOH mix, some AUD tapes of C.C's and new to the table some(many?) Monitor mixes that Roger Cole added. It should be noted that this project was Roger's brain child, so next time you see him give him a high 5 and buy him a Hienn'y. Very nicely done all round. My favorite tracs so far are the midle troika of Walkin' as Two, Last Night and Roll um Easy. RUE was the only song I ever sang to my kids at bed time... I'm startin' to tear up WDILLTHWTIT is solid too... Love that mandecelo sound. This is Vol. One of the '04 tour so I can only hope that Red Streamliner makes it onto Vol Two... Or Three? This is all I know, but I could be wrong

Hoyhoy everubody,
"Barnstormin' Live Volime one" arrived today. Now I'm listening to these gems.....great!
By the way, I understand that this Live-CD was compiled by a new method, but I'd like to know where did the sources come from. It's very interesting to compare them with their original recordings.

Ringo, the word I hear is the management doesn't want anyone to know where each tune was culled from. Something about legal entanglements should a venue want a cut of the pie... once the disc goes platinum There are a hand full (or less) that can be deduced from selective searching on the Featbase, but it's prolly never going to be generally known exactly which dates produced each tune. I'm more interested in VOL II and when it may be out

For any of you who may be on the fence about whether or not to pick up a copy of Barnstormin' Live (Vol. 1), you may be thinking to yourself "I have most of the songs listed on the jacket on various studio recordings - and as I have a number of live Feat recordings - I have a good representation of the Little Feat live experience in my collection as well." Let me introduce you to something you don't have - track 7. As I was listening to this CD for the first time, I was glancing at the list of songs. When I first saw Last Night listed in the 7 position my brain immediately thought of The Traveling Wilburys ;D Could it be that the Feat were going to do a Wilburys cover? ( I had not yet read the liner notes ) As Walkin' As Two wound down my sense of anticipation was building as I knew I was about to hear something completely new from LF. Although it was a cover song, it wasn't a cover of the Wilburys. Rather, it was a Little Walter song and I was blown away Sam's vocals are rock solid. Kenny's bass and the guitar (Fred or Paul? anyone?) create the mood. Add Bill's piano and the harmonica, and I found myself listening to as fine a live recording of a blues tune since... well, since Shaun and Bill blew me away with It Takes a Train on Down Upon the Suwanee. It's an excellent representation of the '04 tour, and one CD every Feat fan will want to have in his or her collection! - chadgumbo
