HOYS to all y'all!
The Glenn at the Backyard is a smallish (1400?1800?)new OUTDOOR venue that just opened this fall, on Hwy 71 in Bee Cave very near Austin. It is a sloping hillside with the stage at the bottom of the hill, contains a few boulders to perch upon, some food and some beverages. It was pleasant when i was there, although surrounded by a mall that was unfortunately unstoppable by local citizenry.
The Glenn is behind the Backyard, if you've ever been there, and less than half the size of the Backyard.
The Backyard is found at 13101 Highway 71 West, near the intersection of Bee Cave Road (FM 2244). Starting from Zilker Park in Austin, head west on 2244 for 16 miles. It's also near the intersection of 620 at 71, so head south from 183 in north Austin, turn left (east) when you get to 71, then look on your right for the Backyard's front building; there should be parking lot assistance just past the venue. The entrance to the Glenn is at the very back,(as opposed to the side entrance to the Backyard.)
Go to www.thebackyard.net for info. Doors are at 6, show at 7pm. Tickets are $23, $30, and $25, at www.gettix.net .The venue chart says it is general admission, and I'll post about the difference when I find a human on the phone with the venue.
There is a noise curfew, so come on out early and dress for the weather, whatever that might be! Be aware that some shows are moved to downtown Austin, in inclement weather, so it might wind up at the Music Hall or La Zona Rosa. (Rodney Crowell's show was postponed to a Monday for rain). Best Advice is check the Glenn's web site and/or listen to KGSR at 107.1 for updates...contact me by PM if any questions!Who's coming?
