Another classic Traveling Feat YoYo show! Last summer the band went from London, to northern Minnesota, to central Iowa, to S.D. Then later they trekked from Duluth, through the twin cities to Clear Lake Iowa for a fun night at the Surf Ballroom... then back to the Twin cities for two shows at the Fair. All these dates were back to back to back... It'd drive me nuts, but that's just me. Be that as it may, thanks to Rollin Mark's keen eye for the proper search key words, he's managed to place the Feat between dates in Oklahoma (17th) and Kansas (19th) as they play June 18th in a club in the northern Minneapolis suburbs. www.baileyrays.com/Map URL www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?formtype=address&searchtype=address&country=US&addtohistory=&1ahXX=&address=&city=Santiago&state=MN&zipcode=.... sorry about that link, it's a killer Never heard of it, but I'll know it well by June 19th ;D I'll see what else is going on and keep the locals posted. This show is now on the tour list so we no longer have to take it with a grain of salt... and a shot of Cuervo. ;D DPK

Dear DPK: I thought you would have known this, but as your motto goes "I could be wrong..." The reason for 'yoyo' itineraries has a very simple basis: Some of the crew are paid by the mile. Especially, but not limited to, Foof. These individuals were able to 'persuade' Deep South to include as many long travel segments as possible into the tour. As I understand it, the 'persuasion' did NOT include a horse head. That's _so_ 70's. Rather it was more like a scene from "Good Fellas". Haven't you wondered about the _real_ reason Pat 'left' Deep South? It seems just one example was enough to put the remaining personnel into line... Also, they have pictures. Do you know the legal pretense that a corporation is treated as if it were a person? Well, there are photos of Deep South in bed with Warner Bros. Graphic pictures. Not the kind to include in your vacation slides. (Unless you are Paco, but that's a whole other stinking kettle of fish.) I understand that by sending this email, my life expectancy has dropped sharply. I just _had_ to let the world know what I've seen, regardless of personal danger. They are so good, the suicide note will seem to be in my own handwriting! Sincerely ( quite! ) yours from Glenn from Seattle (for a little while longer... <sob> )

The website tour page is listing the venue as the Upper Mississippi Shakedown IV (no doubt in reference to the Lamont Cranston Blues Band tune by the same name minus the IV), and lists the town as Santiago, Minnesota. As I'd never heard of Santiago, I immediately shifted gears and visited mapquest.com and it shows Santiago as being a small community near Saint Cloud. I'll be paying close attention to my co-workers requests with regard to trading weekends, as that happens to fall on a weekend I'm scheduled to work. Hopefully I'll be able to work something out and make the trip, which looks to be about a 3 hour drive for my part. Glenn from Seattle, if you're still alive, your thoughts about the yo-yo touring does have a certain logic to it. With regard to your circumstances, perhaps Shred can teleport you directly to Portland. There, you could call yourself Glenn from Portland and perhaps the pursuers would be thrown off the track for a while longer. Not to mention you'd be oh so close to Roseland next time the Feat make their way to that favored venue - chadgumbo

Ok Glenn,
I'd be glad to teleport you out, to where ever you need to be hidden. It's back up and working fine after the show in Malibu where it picked up some sand from the beach, got caught in the thrusters. I came back looking more like a tomato than a human. So let's give it a spin!! Yours truly, Shred from Shred

Good morning
I have been to all 3 of the shakedowns and am looking forward to the 4th. Last year Belushi was the big draw and there were 3 other excellent bands as well. The show takes place mainly outside but there is entertainment inside the bar. There is a fullservice outside bar and i think there were about 4 or 5 beer bars on the perimeter.
The music was incredible the food excellent they had bbq ribs, porkchops etc. cooking all day. People came from all over some with tents and RVs I wont miss the Shakedown. The town is small but the show that Ray puts on is huge and done right, definately worth the drive. I have friends already rescheduling grad parties so they can make it LOL

Hey folks. My wife Terry and I own Bailey Ray's. The town of Santiago is literally out in the middle of two cornfields. 1000's of acres of the Sherburne wildlife refuge are across the road. A fabulous place to bike. Our show is a one day gig sort of reminescent of the olden day keggers in the country or somebody's backyard. The difference is of course it costs and most did'nt have this high level of talent. We rent a big stage, provide beer trucks, two outdoor bars, and 40 toilets. Never could stand waiting in line for elimination needs. The food is grilled outdoors and is one mistake I made last year in that it wasn't staffed as well as it should have been so it was the only place people had to wait. That will not happen this year. There were about 2000 people out here last year for UMS3 with Jim Belushi and The Sacred Hearts headlining. It was very comfortable, the music great. There were no arrests according to the Sheriff and only two fights between friends who got started a little early. Those were over in 10 seconds. We have leased a 35 acre piece of land for parking, camping, etc. It is FREE to park there, has security, and our hope is people spend the night so a better time can be had kicked back in a lawn chair [bring one] watching what I think will be a super show. We hope it will be well supported so we can keep doing it and we thank "little Feat" for coming out to Bailey Ray's.

Ray, you do indeed have the spirit! Thanks a lot for keeping the spirit of one of my youth's prime entertainments live, the kegger. ;D I don't know how else you advertise, but for the last Zoo show, the band attracted well over 1000 for a great night. Your gig sounds sooooo much more "friendly" . Folks, It's coming up soon so let get behind this party!

I LOVE BAILEY RAY'S!!! I attended last year's Mississippi Shakedown and it was the best time I have ever had at an outdoor concert! This year we are bringing our tent and kickin' back! Belushi rocked! and now Little Feat! This event is the hidden gem of the century. (Having grown up in the 50's it reminds me of the kegger field parties of yesteryear). I would not miss it for anything!

^bump to add map link/URL to first posting. Santiago is not much more than a spot on a map as it looks, but we'll strive to put it on the map come 6-18.
All for now

I have been to last years Upper Mississippi Shake Down, WOW. Talk about a great time. It is in the town of Santiago, Litterally on the corner of corn field county and Wildlife Blvd. The entertainment was awsome. Jim Belushi was incredible. When he got on stage, you could feel the energy flow from the stage to the crowd. Ray and his posse did a fantastic job with the lay out of the grounds. Plenty of food and beverages were available. I am looking forward to this years U.M.S.D. There is no better way to see a concert, as you watch the sun set and then the stars come out. IT'S WORTH THE TRIP!!

Last minute roll call: Who's coming up? I'm pitching two tents and have a large car with comfortable seats in case it gets too late out.
