Multiple Hoys to all of the extended Feat family ... old and new.
In 1997, Billy Payne posted an open invitation (http://www.featfans.net/invite.html) to the fans to help promote the band from a grassroots level, from the ground up. The list of great folks I have had the pleasure to work with since then is, truly, too long to list … but I’d like to tip the hat to a few. Jay Herbst, Jim Burness (the original Rocky Mountain Regional Coordinator), Jim Drew, Mac Davis, Rick Moore, Tony Robledo and, of course, Denny Jones … for different reasons you each has had a huge impact on me.
So … why do I say all this? While I enjoy the role of POC Coordinator, I wonder if it isn’t time for some else to have a chance. Since this past Spring several of us have wondered if, because myself and many of the other RCs have been around so long, we were holding other folks back from active participation. I am sure none of us that have been around for so long have intended that … but that may well have been what we’ve done.
With that in mind … I intend to step down as POC Coordinator at the end of this tour (do they ever really end) this fall. I also offer up the position of Regional Coordinator for the Mountain Region. Don’t get me wrong … they’ve been great to do, a privilege to do … but maybe it really is the time for some new faces and fresh ideas … if so … now’s the time.
So … what does a POC Coordinator do? Well …<br>
The POC Coordinator (POCC) works with the RCs to make sure POCs are assigned and monitored worldwide.
Specifically, the POCC:
Updates the POCCENTRAL.COM (website) with shows provided by Deep South and with POC assignments provided by the RCs.
Maintains the POC database for accuracy and duplication
Provides all POC assignments to the Tour Manager before each leg and updates during each leg
Provides POC-specific itineraries to the POCs (and RCs upon request)
Coordinates Tour Manager 'special requests' ... e.g. help on the ground London on the way to Italy
Acts as the RC (assigns POCs) for all shows outside the US
Like the RCs, the POCC answers lots of POC questions ... usually via email but sometimes via telephone.
It’s not as hard or as much work as it sounds like … Jim Drew did all this and much, much more by himself! So ….
Anyone interested should drop me (clay@poccentral.com) or Mac Davis (tenntwister1@yahoo.com) a line and we’ll get the process started!
