Warren Haynes will bring his annual Christmas Jam back to Asheville’s Civic Center Arena on Saturday December 18. As with past years, proceeds from the event will be directed to Habitat for Humanity. In addition, Haynes will once again serve as emcee while opening the evening with a solo performance. The night's namesake also will appear with Gov't Mule and one can anticipate that aditionally he will sit in with other artists. Those acts confirmed for the charity Jam now include Galactic, Little Feat, Living Colour, Neville Brothers, Audley Freed, Kevn Kinney, Edwin McCain with more musicians to be announced.

I already bought 2 tix, and have been researching the idea of a "Feat Event" in Ashville. I checked out a B&B called (are you ready for this?) Bed Of Roses! Funny, huh? There is also a Cajun restaurant called Thibodaux Jones I will definitely be eating at!
There is a great "low country" restaurant right on Haywood, in the historic downtown area (close to the civic center) called John Henry's, which could make a good Meet N' Greet place for Feat fans who want to make the trip...
I have a list of motel/hotels in Ashville...reasonably priced..It would be a nice last shot before Jamaica to get Feat fans together since the Keswick and BB's. It is also well before Xmas, and a respite in the middle of all the madness leading up to the 25th.
Since I plan on going there anyway, I just thought maybe I could help plan another Grassroots Event around the Feat gig...even Mac could come up w/Miss Vick perhaps..

Got an email from the Gov't Mule website, which is where i bought 2 tickets for this show. They announced that it's now SOLDOUT!! Will be aobut 6,000 people, which is more than I like, but all the tickets are general admission, so me & farmgirl will have to get there early and be clever about where we set ourselves up!!
We're excited about this trip which is about 4 hours away from our farm. Never explored Asheville, but have heard much about it. We're going tomorrow (Friday) and tomorrow night we're going to go to the Biltmore Estate and take the Candlelight Christmas Tour. Then Saturday night is the big show....starts at 7:00 with Warren Haynes opening it with a solo acoustic set. Not sure when the Feat play, but with 5 bands and several individual performers this should prove to be an all-nighter!!

WHOOOOO HOOOOO!!! I live right outside of Asheville and I've been to The Xmas Jam 3 years in a row now, counting this one!! Like I said...WHOOO HOOO!!! It was Saturday nite (Dec. 18th) and it was a freaking MARATHON!! The mayor of Asheville came out to intoduce Mr. Haynes at around 7:30pm and the party kept going on through 5am. Warren played Van Morrison's "Ballerina (sp?)" and a Gov't Mule song to kick it off...The Hot Tomatoes came on and tore the house down as usual (I've came to see you twice in Richmond, once at the Orange Peel here in Ashe-hood, and Hotlanta)!! Spanish Moon and good ol' Dix Chick were played...a couple of their new stuff offa Kicking It On the Farm. Paul came out and played the mandolin (sp?) with members of Galactic...WOW!! I love the Feats. I like it a lot...I can't remember all of went on because...well, you know how it goes . A little chocolate ice cube with some organic materials in it did the walking for me......John Popper from Blues Traveler, Aaron Neville, and Galactic played...the guy from Drivin' & Cryin' (sorry man, I don't remember your name.... ) sang "Straight to Hell", Living Color (they made it a heavy metal concert for a second...they got the crowd CRAZY!), Edwin, Little Feat, Warren's band Gov't Mule...Jesus, it was beautiful. Little Feat didn't get to play as long as I had anticipated, but then again, they never do. Forever is not long enough to get my fill of Little Feat. I wanted so bad to hear "Willin'"...I even screamed "Play one for Lowell George!!" in the front row just like they said in the Live at Neon Park CD....Paul smiled at me!!!! Thanks Paul. Keep an eye out for a DVD or something...they had a camera on a boom and another guy on stage filming the whole thing (please, please, please)...... I had the original vinyl album cover off of Dixie Chicken for an autograph, but the d*ckheads in security wouldn't let me back there (hmmm, they were doing their job, maybe?)...Hogging all the groupies for yourselves, huh you studs?...Just kidding...I'd do the same. Anyways, to my beloved Feat, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Seriously. You made my Xmas the best ever. I was raised on you guys and you have made an impact on my life...I'm not just saying that, you guys have been with me and lifted my spirt up in some really rat-bastard situations and got me higher in some really great times...I can always depend on you guys to be there (except in jail...but I still got a tune in my head...). Next time you guys are passing through our little piece of Heaven called Asheville, look me up. I got a farm out in the sticks and we can kick it as long and loud as you want. Just don't try anything with my goat. She's mine. Lol...just a little podunk humor for you guys. How about another show at The Orange Peel? Asheville loves Little Feat. But I'm sure you already knew that by the responce you got when you came onstage in the Civic Center. We were singing "Whiskey....and BAD COCAINE!!" as loud as the PA's!! Keep on rocking and I'll keep rolling in to see you. Peace and chicken grease... Happy Holidays and Happy New Year to EVERYONE!! Be safe and have fun...do us all a favor and don't drink and drive...you could hit a bump and spill your drink...there is no alcohol abuse in this house!! Forever Featful, Jackson Brown, Asheville, NC brasi1981@yahoo.com P.S.- If you ever get shorthanded on roadie help, you got my eddress...I don't even need money, just feed me, gimme a left-handed cigarette every now and then, and some hay to lay on and I will be your pack-muling b*tch. WILL WORK FOR FEAT!! I'm always Willin'...to be movin... [glow=green,2,300] R.I.P- Lowell George... Gone But Never Forgotten...We miss you brother. Hope it's as much fun as you had down here. Say hey to my Mama for me. She'll be the prettiest one up There. [/glow]
