Well, where to begin about the New Brunswick Canucks two Nights On The Town in Maine! Sensational!!! The list of adjectives to describe the two shows that myself and my two travelling compadres experienced in Maine is a mile long and a mile wide!
I'm still reeling, y'all!!! It had been since the 1999 NOLA Jazzfest(and oh BTW that was a damn fine time I had at that damn fine show, too)since I had last seen the Feat and it was the first time ever for my two buds!!! WOW!!!INcredible
.
Just smokin' sets that brought this sleep deprived soul up outta the doldrums in the biggest and best way. I couldn't sit still...that would have been Mission Impossible I had ants in my pants and I needed to dance, just didn't feel right sittin' for too long...only long enough to rest and regroup for the next onslaught of Feat magic.
I am listening to my autographed copy of Kickin' It At The Barn DVD and remembering the opening track of the DVD from Boothbay Harbor...Night On The Town..played at or near the end of the night.
Awesome, listening to it now brings back the memory(okay, okay it's only been a few days since I saw it live but it was a couple of wild and wooly days in between ) of what a great, cookin' version of that song was that we caught in Boothbay Harbour!!!
It's gonna take me a while to be able to step back and really appreciate and savor all that I saw and experienced in those two evenings so for now my ramblings are probably going to be just that...ramblings...meandering and a l'il ragged. Rest assured as I recuperate from the weekend things will become a little more coherent. So much to say and to share I will beg your indulgence and your patience.
From Boothbay some of the highlights for me were:
I loved the Blues Don't Tell It All, the Spanish Moon > Skin It Back was stunning, the Fatman>Gringo > Get Up Stand Up > Fat Man was crazy and of course the Dixie Chicken section was superb and then the Let It Roll absolutely slayed me
.
Tipi, I know you and Philip got rocked more in Bar Harbor but I guess for me and my friends the 'nervous anticipation' factored in there for us as far as our appreciation of the events in Boothbay.
It was very interesting to meet and get to rap with Chris(The Featbase Guy), Cajun Girl, Tipi and Philip after the Bar Harbor show and get their takes on the shows! Very interested in getting the impressions of the veteran Feat Fantatics!!!
I would be remiss if I didn't also give a HUGE SHOUT OUT to all of the above mentioned folks because as great as those shows were, it was equally as enjoyable to meet and get to hang with such great people!!!
Thanks for being a part of my Little Feat experience Tipi, Chris, Philip, Cajun Girl and, although briefly, Hank the Feat Photographer!!! Truly an honor and a pleasure to meet you all and really hope that we can do it again someday!!!
Hank, I hope your son enjoyed the shows as much as I did, sir!!! I saw Hank taking pics from all kinds of different vantage points. I hope they all turn out great, Hank. I look forward to admiring them wherever they might be posted on the Web!!!
mangojunky, I was bummed that we didn't get to meet but I am hopeful that one day we will. We're neighbors after all
I hope you got the message I left on your voicemail.
Okay, this post's a bit of an epic lengthwise and sort of streams of consciousness in it's flow, but as I said I had a lot to say and share so that's my first attempt...think I'll stop for now and think about my Bar Harbor show highlights so I can do a follow up post soon....
well, one Bar Harbor highlight springs to mind immediately and all I will say about that is my much hoped for...DOWN ON THE FARM...more on that later. Hope to hear back from any folks that were there and those that I met personally and rest assured I'll be back on the board when I have regrouped, y'all!!!
All Smiles ;D,
Pete
