Reply to this poll if you are coming to see Little Feat & Allman Brothers Sept.30 @ Nissan Pavillion in Virginia. Should be a terrific show and a great turn out of feat fans too.

::)Well I'm replying to this thread, not because I'm attending the 9/30 show at the Nissan Pavilion, but rather because of LF "opening" for ABB. I've posted a similar view before on this issue and I'll be anxious to see any posting of a review of this show. Consider this as representative of my unbiased position: At the first of January this year, it was my greatest hope to get tickets for me and farmgirl to go to the Big Apple and see ABB at their famous annual two week run at the Beacon Theatre and we got to go!! The Beacon was a hoot....especially the crowded men's room where relieving myself was accompanied by very loud cheering for the guy in the stall next to me who was puking his brains out!! ;D Disappointing was the ABB performance....not that it was bad....how could it be when you've got seven hugely talented musicians including two of the top guitarists is the business!! What was missing was synchronized teamwork of all that talent!!! Now on May 6th at the Jefferson Center in Roanoke, VA comes my first ever attendance of Little Feat!! Jefferson Center was a very good venue, but I didn't use the men's room and the usher wouldn't let me blow up baloons and toss them out when LF came on stage...so it wasn't as much a hoot as the Beacon. LF likewise has seven hugely talented musicians, arguably perhaps not as individually talented as the members of ABB....but WOW did I ever learn the value of TALENT that plays TOGETHER!!! Walked out of there considering it the best concert I've ever attended and jumped at getting tickets to see them again travelling 7 hours to the PromWest Pavilion in Columbus, OH....and left that one equally as pleased with the show (kind of ironically opened by Dickie Betts). The day after the 9/30 show with LF opening for ABB, LF plays solo at Carrington Pavilion in Danville, VA.....boy am I looking forward to that.....and know that I'll get a lot more bang for the buck than watching Little Feat opening for Allman Brothers.

I have been to a couple of these "co-bills" with ABB. I go back and see the Mag 7 during the ABB set. To be fair, this was during the Dickie Betts daze, which drove my final decision on "jammingjammingjammingect.ect.ect................"

great to hear everyone's opinion about the ABB. i understand that their shows can be awesome....or not, depending on the night. probably more consistent now that dickie betts is no longer in the band (but will miss his vocals on his songs). that's the beauty of a feat show - the band plays together and is consistently good-even on an "off" night (like when someone is sick or just plain tired). i'm hoping that feat get at least an hour plus in the opener slot. i do plan on watching at least 1/2 of the ABB show - when i'm not doing sign-ups or helping out. here's a link to some updated info on the show & venue: If you haven't visited the Nissan home page, check it out. I've been lucky enough to see both bands live numerous times since the 70's including catching each in the last month and they are in peak form. The ABB has been the most inconsistent over the years, but have taken a page from the Feat book by putting away the egos and playing like a true band. This should be a killer show. Bill H

Okay boys & girls...only 2 weeks until Feat/Allman Bros @ Nissan Pavillion. this is an early thursday show and traffic in this area is intense, so I suggest y'all head out toward Gainesville, VA (just off I-66, which can be a parking lot) early, like try to arrive before 4pm. There is a link below to the Nissan website. They have LOTS of rules @ Nissan, including no open containers in the parking lot, so BE CAREFUL! Prince William county police and Va State boys do stroll around and look for reasons to search and bust. Feat come on at 6pm! There will be a post-show party, probably in a hotel nearby. I know some of the folks who are coming, but if you have read this far and are coming and want to hang with Steve & Martha, Bob & Katie, Cajun Girl & JB, Scarlett (Laurie) & Harvey, Jerry & Diane & a bunch of fun folks, do email here or offline. website: here's a link to some updated info on the show & venue: If you haven't visited the Nissan home page, check it out. Looking forward ot saeeing all ofhte HoyHoyers at the Nissan.. oh boy oh boy oh boy This is gonna be one of those "I dare ya not too have fun!" shows for sure! Not just an oppourtunity to see a bunch of nice Harleys, but Always good when Da Feat and Warren are in the same house! If they get together to play 44 Blues ... I might spontaneously combust AND Dennis and Edie @ Keswick & BB's Manafrickinschevitz (sp?) for a small # of shows ... this amounts to a boatload of fun! Way to step up on the house party SteveO I would have ... but I didn't pay for my room so I didn't feel I had the right to offer I'm at the hampton inn manassass. But clearly the superdooper 8 is where the fun will be! Not to offend ... but for the BB shows ... I'll be in Dennis and Edie's room thank you! Edie baby? Rick told me last night that you 2 are going to Hotlanta too! It's only a 90 minute set so make sure you get lot's of chili! tail end of 2004 is gonna be 1 for the books! oh boy oh boy oh boy

Final pre-show posting: Looks like we've got a contingent at the Hampton Inn, and the big cheese POC dude @ Super 8...so we have choices on where to congregate when the big red bus leaves gainesville for point south.
It's up to Stevie E, if he wants to host, then let's go there. let's meet up at the merchandise area immediately post-Feat show. do some e-mail sign-ups, chat, and decide from there.
Don't know if there will be any cross-jamming, but hope so!
cheers, bf bob

The Nissan show was a smoker. Albeit a short set, the band stepped to the plate and smacked it right out of the park.
I'm not good with set lists so someone else will post that info. It was great to see everyone even though it was a short visit.
I had some really wonderful company to watch the debates with and the conversations after the debates were even more enjoyable.
Right now I'm waiting for the Danville train and enjoying another great day in Featville.

Hoydi doody all! Finally back from the Nissan show. Before you start fearing my usual verbosity, be grateful Bob has already posted. Bob as always is exactly right! The best hunk of ABB, (a possible misnomer), was Capt. Ron hoppin in on Southbound! He took to it like butter to a biscuit. I'll bet anyone a buck that our friend Ron Will Be playing with Warren and whoever again. He stole the show imho.
Now Da Feat … can put more music into a 70 minute set than any band alive. If you disagree I can meet you somewhere & we can fight about it. 8*)
Was Awesome too getting to meet Emma & Gary, Jerry & Diane, Ms Scarlett at the show. Sorry of course they didn't get out after, but thanks J&D for steppin' up to give Emma & Gary a ride to Atlanta!
Awesome after party, thanks to JB and Cajun Girl! We had to eventually move upstairs for a lil’ more room … but it was their party! Dullus Alice, Tanja & Gayle, Bob, Ron, Collin, Tym, Daphne, CG, JB, Pete, Carmen, and some carbuncle named Randell (not hank. Hank’s a Scot … not a carbuncle.), did some good work after the show.
Was great to see brother Rick get out of fl. for a breather.
And the beat goes on! Peace, T

Carbuncle n. 1. a painful circumscribed inflammation of the subcutaneous tissue, resulting in suppuration and sloughing, and having a tendency to spread (somewhat like a boil, but more serious in its effects).
