I would appreciate any comments on Little Feat's performance at Riverbend '04. I am a long time Feat Fan (since '76) but only saw them live for the first time in New Orleans at the House of Blues in June '2000. While their performance then was absolutely great, I felt they didn't bring thier "A game" to Riverbend. I found the sound to be un-even and loaded up with too much bottom. While I enjoyed the show (due to the fact that I am a true Feat Fanatic!) I believe It could have been much better. I am curious to see if anyone else in attendance would concur, or strike me blind. We traveled to Chatanooga from south Louisiana specifically to see them and were pleasantly suprised by the whole festival. lmm

First, on behalf of my friends involved with Riverbend, thanks for coming from that far away. Glad you liked the festival. It will be better next year since the site is in the middle of a $120 million riverfront renovation.
I enjoyed the Feat show a lot. I think the sound problem may have been from the fact that they mix the sound for the main stage and two large remote video screens each side of the stage from the same board. Each video screen has its own PA. We were up pretty close (as close as you can get to a barge in the river). I thought it sounded pretty good, but as you said, a little bottom heavy. I suspect that it is much easier to mix sound in a theatre than a large outdoor festival.
I was slightly disappointed with the set list, although Takes a lot to Laugh kills me everytime. Kind of the standard setlist. That said, I understand exactly why they played what they did. Little Feat has not been to Chattanooga in 14 years and had only 1 1/2 hour set. The crowd would have expected the older and more well know Feat "hits" to be played. And it paid off. I've heard a bunch of very positive comments around Chattanooga for the last couple of days. I believe they picked up a few new (and younger) fans along with re-establishing ties to the long time fans here. A friend of mine told me that his 17 y.o. son said "Dad, I never heard of Little Feat. They kicked ass"!
BTW - I got your ticket scans. Thanks.
