ANNOUNCING THE FIRST ANNUAL CENTRAL U.S. LITTLE FEAT FAN EXCURSION!!!!!
Feat Fans asked for it, and here it is! We finally have a version of the Feat Fan Excursion, conveniently located in the center of the United States. We are “Callin’ The (Feat) Children Home” for a unique fall festival extravaganza. This event will take place in Eureka Springs, Arkansas (the home of Fred & Patricia Tackett), located in the beautiful & scenic Arkansas Ozarks, September 15th & 16th. Please note that this is the FIRST ANNUALfestival. This party will expand and broaden each and every year. (Does the city of Eureka Springs have any idea what they’re getting themselves into?!?) For those of you who missed out on attending all (or some) of the Jamaica excursions so far, here’s your chance to get in on the festivities of this annual event from the ground floor! Because Eureka Springs is centrally located in the continental U.S., it should be relatively easy (and probably less expensive) for many Feat Fans to attend. This is definitely going to be one for the record books, and should NOT be missed by any respectable Feat Fan! We'll be there, and we would love to see you there too, if at all possible!
Fred & Patricia have been working VERY hard with the city of Eureka Springs to make the entire weekend's worth of festivities successful! No other group in the history of Eureka Springs has EVER been welcomed to the city like this! They are literally rolling out the red carpet for the Feat Fan Family! These are the tentative plans so far. The weekend will kick off with a show by Dr. John on Friday night, September 15th in the Auditorium (dubbed "The Aud"). By the way, Little Feat will be in attendance at the Friday night show. Saturday will belong to the Feat Fans, as there will be Feat related activities taking place all day. Plans are in the works for an early afternoon concert (possibly Paul & Fred) in the city’s music park, as well as a huge party and a parade. The parade will feature fancy cars, and/or other modes of transportation. If you plan to drive to the festival, and have a “parade worthy” vehicle, it would look fabulous decorated for the parade. Feat Fans are also being encouraged to dress up like their favorite Little Feat song character for participation in the parade (possibly with prizes). Here are some great ideas – Dallas Alice, Greta, the Fat Man in the Bathtub, Rock & Roll Doctor, Spotcheck Billy, the Taxidermist’s Daughter, the Ragin’ Cajun, Eula, Juanita, El Dorado Slim, Texas Twister, Spider and Lucy, the Ingenue, etc. etc. Let’s see if we can come up with some additional great parade character ideas! The grande finale of the event will, of course, be the Little Feat concert in "The Aud" on Saturday evening.
Eureka Springs is a wonderful quirky little town with tons of history and charm! We have visited the area numerous times, and have always been enchanted by the beauty and allure. However, Eureka Springs is NOT an old-fashioned place, by any stretch of the imagination. It is a hip, happening city, filled with modern artists and musicians – a place where creative visions are allowed to run wild! Eureka Springs is also a shopper’s paradise! The city is noted for its many prestigious art galleries, filled with the work of famous, as well as local, artists. A very famous poster artist, Max Elbo, is designing the official poster (and possibly a t-shirt) for the weekend festival. (We can't wait to get our hands on those!) In addition, the city is filled with one-of-a-kind nooks and alleyways where a shopper can find that perfect treasure, such as antiques & collectibles, high quality crafts, jewelry, candles, and quilts, many of which are hand crafted in the Ozarks by very talented artisans.
There is an endless array of activities available in the local area – it's guaranteed that you simply cannot experience all that Eureka Springs has to offer in one weekend. There are spas, float trips and other water sports, bicycle tours, caverns, historic hotels, the Great Passion Play, even a section of the Berlin Wall is on display! Be sure to check out the city’s website, and the chamber of commerce website for more details:

Eureka Springs is served by the Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport. The official website is: www.nwara.com/ The following airlines fly in and out of NWARA -- American Airlines (including American Eagle & American Connection), Northwest Airlines (including Mesaba Airlines), Continental Airlines, Delta (including Atlantic Southeast Airlines), and U.S. Airways. There will be a couple of vans to transport Feat Fans to and from the airport, for a minimal charge. Limousine service will also be available. It is approximately a one-hour ride from the airport to Eureka Springs. The route between the airport and Eureka is one of the most scenic areas of the country, especially during the splendor of Autumn! After arriving in town, many places are within easy walking distance. Eureka Springs offers several trolley routes to various locations around town. Most lodging establishments have front door trolley service, as do central locations in the downtown area. Other modes of transportation are available, as well.
There is a virtual myriad of choices for overnight accommodations in Eureka Springs. For those folks who love the camping experience, Eureka Springs has reserved part of the city’s music park for camping grounds, with HOT showers available. The music park/camping grounds will be headquarters for Saturday’s daytime activities. Feat Fans who choose to camp out, will be right in the center of the action. And for those people who would prefer a bit more "plush" lodging arrangements, there are plenty of charming old hotels, as well as fantastic bed-and-breakfasts from which to choose. There will also be an entire hotel reserved for Feat Fans, with special pricing (sounds like “Party Central” to us).
There may be fan packages available, which will possibly include such amenities as airport transfers, concert tickets, lodging, and a t-shirt. We will keep you posted as new details unfold for this Eureka Springs extravaganza. Be sure to mark the weekend on your calendar now, so you won't miss out on any of the festivities! We hope to see a multitude of Feat Fans there!
