LITTLE FEAT KICKIN’ IT LIVE ON WORLD TOUR
LOS ANGELES - Legendary rock band Little Feat will kick off a world tour in support of its latest album, “Kickin’ It at the Barn” with a stateside jaunt beginning in April. The band will tour the States throughout the year, breaking in late June for a two-week tour of Europe.
Little Feat warmed up for the tour with successful working vacation, the Second Annual Feat Fan Excursion, a weekend-long convention held in Negril, Jamaica. Throughout the weekend, fans were treated to an acoustic set by guitarists Paul Barrere and Fred Tackett; Keyboardist Bill Payne, vocalist Shaun Murphy, drummer Piero Mariani, and Fred Tackett performed at a Blues Brunch, and the full band played two blistering shows. Sam Bush, the well-respected mandolin/fiddle player formerly of New Grass Revival, joined Little Feat for all of their sets. Fans also had the opportunity to personally interact with the members of the band by participating in various clinics, as well as play in the second annual Kenny and Paul Golf Tournament held at the Negril Hills Golf Club. “What a hoot it is doing these shows in Jamaica,” vocalist/guitarist Paul Barrere said. “The resort is perfect and it’s wonderful to get to know the fans on a personal basis.”
The band followed the fan convention with a performance in front of a packed house at the Mardi Gras Festival in Galveston, Texas, later in February.
Little Feat formed 1969 and released numerous studio and live albums. After producing hits such as “Willin’,” “Easy To Slip,” “Dixie Chicken,” “Fat Man In the Bathtub,” “Rock & Roll Doctor,” “Spanish Moon,” and “Time Loves A Hero,” the group split in 1979.
Guitarist/vocalist Paul Barrere and keyboardist Bill Payne crossed paths at a chance jam session in 1986, which rekindled the Little Feat flame and ultimately led to the band reforming in 1988.
Little Feat has a huge music catalog and on this tour fans can expect to hear songs spanning its entire 35-year career, as well as selections from “Kickin’ It at the Barn”. The band is also known for switching their set around from night to night. “This year we are going to greatly expand our repertoire so that the shows will be even more diverse than before, if that’s possible,” said Barrere.
Fans can also access a form through Little Feat’s website (www.littlefeat.net) to request songs for the upcoming tour.
Whether they are playing new tracks, classic hits, or an obscure cut from the
past, one thing is certain – Little Feat always delivers a 100 percent rock and roll show.
