Bill Payne introduced his new album in Negril at the Feat Fan excursion. It was a true honor to be exposed to his first solo effort in this forum.
Bill talked about each song as they played, and revealed lots of inside information about each song regarding technical musical aspects in addition to the inspirational motivations with little pieces of nuance as we went.
Bill mentioned that music is a journey, and he is a magnificent guide. This was the highlight of Negril for me.
Please make an effort to hear this, it is magical. It is not a rehash of "Feat" material. It's music that you can either listen to in the background, or with complete focus.
I listenened to this on the plane home through head phones. Watching the clouds go by and hearing the music made me feel like I was migrating home with the rest of the flock, heading home as spring moves north. I felt liberated as the magic of this album unfolded.
If you have any appreciation on non-standard, non-vocal music, you need to give this a serious listen. You won't be disappointed.

8-)I went to the new website for Billy's music and placed an order for Cielo Norte(does anyone know what that means??). At the end of placing the order a message popped up that said there was a problem processing it and gave me an NC phone # to call. I called there and they fixed the problem and also told me that my CD (which will be mailed to me about a week before the official release date) will be one of the autographed copies that the 1st 100 orders will get !! Ya'll better get your order in fast if you want one with Billy's scratch on it!!

I agree it's AWESOME. I sat on the beach in Negril and listened to the entire CD on our last day vacation, that was one of those AWE moments in life, great music and great beach, sigh.

I can only add my concurrence to what has been said already ... and don't misunderstand people who describe it as "background" music, which I have heard said, already. It's the kind of background music to which you can do stuff. Bill described it as "multi-tasking" music. He told us of a friend of his who played the album while packing -- "I never packed faster," the friend told Bill. He also warned us that it's the kind of music that you have to be careful of ... if you are listening to it while driving to your grandmother's house, for example, you'll just drive right past the exit.
It's that haunting.
Helen and I were especially touched when he described the inspiration for "Through the Eyes of a Child". The song was inspired by Shel Silverstein's "The Giving Tree". If you don't know that wonderful story, or aren't too familiar with the quirky genius of Shel Silverstein, then Billy has just opened yet another door for you. Check it out.

its just great to listen to this wonderfull work of art. just like gary i too listened to it on a plane and just watched the clouds pass by...talk about relaxing... this disc has become part of my life's soundtrack... anyone who needs some help to relieve the stress of daily life should certainly invest in this disc. along with fred's in a town like this, cielo norte shows just how talented these folks are on their own. all the band members should do us a favor and grace us with a solo project

16 Japanese fans had ordered Bill's "Cielo Norte" together, and the autographed CD's just arrived at my home. They will be redirected to each address. It's a very good day today.

???Most everyday there has been a posting for this thread noted on summary message board and there hasn't actually been a posting since Ringo's in February and sometimes that posting is dated as TODAY!! I thought I'd post this message for two reasons: 1) I wanted to see if it would work. 2) I received and have been greatly enjoying my autographed Cielo Norte. Bill's narrative on the CD insert shows that his great talent is not just limited to the keyboard and the music is sooooo sooooothing. Great music for if you just want to sit peacefully and think or lie down and snooze!! I would love to know more of the credits for other musicians who participated in this recording. The only notation in that respect was to Piero M?? for percussion on one song. Lots of other thank you's to many other folks for other reasons or no given reason. Who were the other supporting musicians?? Thanks Bill for producing this one!!

Farmboy 1. The reason Ringo's post showed up as "today" instead of 2-23-05 was because the thread got spammed today by someone who placed an ad in the subject title. I deleted it and for some reason, it placed Ringo's post (the previous post in the thread) as "the most recent post" selection. 2. As far as I have heard or read, Piero Mariani (Shaun's percusionist husband) IS the only other musician on the album. Bill did everthing else, which is all keyboards. I'm sure if there where other musicians on the album, Bill would have credited them.

;)Thanks for the reply Rollin' Mark. Now this AM did "David Jonas" spam this thread and change your posting date to TODAY??
Also, as long as we're addressing message board wierdness, I tried to enter the Little Feat's Grassroots that showed a new posting on the General board and got a message saying "An error has occurred you are not authorized to enter this message board".
