and who could forget Johnny Nash's wonderful song... I can see clearly now, the rain is goneI can see all obstacles in my wayGone are the dark clouds that had me blindIt's going to be a bright, bright, sunshiny day!I think I can make it now, the pain is goneAll of the bad feelings have disappearedHere is that rainbow I've been praying forIt's going to be a bright, bright, sunshiny day - chadgumbo

"Oh, I wonder do she know, do she know she hurt me so"
Greatest breakup song ever written...
Chills me just writing it.

oooooh this folder's on fire!
Is It Any Wonder - Jon Cleary & the Absolute Monster Gentlemen
Is it any wonder the way we do sometimes in a world so out of tune You see you play in your key baby and I play in mine But the music ain’t together & the words just don’t seem to wanna rhyme
Is it any wonder is it any wonder Well that we so out of line You go your way & I’ll go mine
Is it any wonder the things we do sometimes When we’re marching to a different drum You see we wrote a bad arrangement To such a sweet sweet song But how do we expect to be together baby If the chords are all wrong
Is it any wonder is it any wonder That we so outta line Yo go your way and I’ll go mine
Well is it any wonder would it be fair to say If we can’t make it together let’s just go our own separate ways If we can’t stand the test of time Let’s cut our losses grace will be our chosen line
Is it any wonder is it any wonder That we so out of line You go your way you go your way you go your way And I’ll go mine I’m goin mine I’m goin mine

This folder is smoldering Speaking of fire... Hellhound On My Trail by Robert Johnson I got to keep moving, I got to keep moving Blues falling down like hail, blues falling down like hail Mmm, blues falling down like hail, blues falling down like hail And the day keeps on remindin' me, there's a hellhound on my trail Hellhound on my trail, hellhound on my trail If today was Christmas eve, if today was Christmas eve And tomorrow was Christmas day If today was Christmas eve and tomorrow was Christmas day All I would need is my little sweet rider Just to pass the time away, to pass the time away You sprinkled hot foot powder, mmm, around my door All around my door You sprinkled hot foot powder, all around your daddy's door It keeps me with ramblin' mind rider Every old place I go, every old place I go I can tell the wind is risin', the leaves tremblin' on the tree Tremblin' on the tree I can tell the wind is risin', leaves tremblin' on the tree All I need is my little sweet woman And to keep my company, hey, hey, hey, hey, my company

Hoy Hoy All
this is fun
Greratest Rock and Roll band on the road song ever. Spanish Moon
"There was hookers and hustlers"
Lowell (solo)
"I forgot to remember to forget"
LF, Lowell
"Fool that I am, I'd do it all over again"
If we keep gooing all of "Long Distance Love" is going to be on here, and it deserves to be.
I finally got ahold of Rolling Stone magazines top 500 albumns, does this magazine have the first clue about music. Little Feat, John Hiatt, Peter Gabriel, Spirit, Quicksiver, Flying Burrito Brothers, none of these are in the top 100. If I didn't know better I would think Jan Weiner had it in for the Feat. How some of the greatest songwriters and musician ever didn't make the top 100 boggles the mind. At a minimum "The Last Record Albumn" should be top 10.
Peace j ashley

Dittos regarding "The Last Record Album". I've always maintained that the music industry has tunnel vision when it comes to determining what is quality music, and it's just whatever sells the most. The film industry at least breaks it down 2 ways... they'll tell you what were the top 10 box office draws, and it'll include E.T., Spider-Man 2, and a host of other Sci-Fi or action films. But they'll also say the greatest movie ever made was The Godfather, or some other film that had quality in the content instead of just in the cash drawer (not that "The Godfather" lost money). But this thread is supposed to be about favorite lyrics, so in order to get back on track here's an old [glow=red,2,300]Buffalo Springfield[/glow] song... There's something happening here What it is ain't exactly clear There's a man with a gun over there Telling me I've got to beware I think it's time we stop Children what's that sound? Everybody look what's going down There's battle lines being drawn Nobody's right, if everybody's wrong Young people speaking their minds Getting so much resistance From behind chorus What a field day for the heat A thousand people in the street Singin' songs and carryin' signs Mostly sayin' hooray for our side chorus Paranoia strikes deep Into your life it will creep It starts when you're always afraid Step out of line, the man come and take you away You better stop Now what's that sound? Everybody look what's goin' down chorus repeats and fades out Mike, I know what you're thinking. Yep, I'm the guy who made the comment about "Ohio" in another thread LOL. But you gotta admit that comment got your blood going like a morning cup o' coffee, yes? Besides... the above really is a great song. - chadgumbo

Buffalo Springfield, CSNY, Crosby never did a bad song as far as I'm concerned. Crosby/Nash are currently doing their "thing" politically, and I think it's great. Great thread Tipi!!!

You're right not to read too much into it Mike... it was meant only as a humorous aside to wrap up my post. And we had had a good exchange of ideas on the bands and politics thread. Hope all is well with you. Have a great weekend Feat fans! -chadgumbo

I WISH IT WOULD RAIN - The Temptations Sunshine, blue skies, please go away My girl has found another and gone away With her with went my future, my life is filled with gloom So day after day, I stay locked up in my room I know to you it might sound strange But I wish it would rain (Oh how I wish that it would rain)
'Cause so badly I wanna go outside (such a lovely day) But everyone knows a man ain't supposed to cry listen: I gotta cry 'cause cryin' eases the pain People, this hurt I feel inside words can never explain I just wish it would rain (Oh how I wish that it would rain) Rain, rain, rain (Oh how I wish that it would rain)
Day in, day out, my tear-stained face is pressed against the window pane I search the skies desperately for rain 'Cause raindrops will hide my teardrops And no one will ever know that I been cryin', cryin' when I go outside To the world outside, my tears I refuse to explain Oh, I wish it would rain (Oh how I wish that it would rain) Let it rain, let it rain I need rain to disguise the tears in my eyes.. Oh how I wish that it would rain

It was written by Jimmie Vaughan and sang by Stevie, but the first I (or any of the public) heard this was at SRVs funeral, which seem to magnify the "feel".
One nite while sleeping in my bed I had a beatiful dream... Now in this dream universal love was the theme of the day Peace and understanding and it happened this way
The sick and the hungry had smiles on thier faces The tired and homeless had family all around The streets and the cities were all beautiful places And the walls came tumblin down
People of the world had it all together Had it all together for the boys and the girls And the children of the world look forward to a future
Remember Tick tock, tick tock, tick tock, people Time's tickin away

There is a long hard road that follows far behind me and It's so cold I'm about to die. Chasin' a dream around the world that's got me feelin' down tho it used to make me high.
Lookin' for answers, searchin' for the truth in an ocean of lies. Tryin' to find a reason to make the whole thing rhyme. Can make you old before your time.
When I was younger I thought I ruled the world. It was an oyster at my feet. Dancin' to my own drum fishin' out the pearl. Wish I would have been much more discreet.
I've lived a lifetime actin' out a part. It's been a long up-hill climb. Now all the things that used to mean so much to me. Have made me old before my time.
Wanderin' aimlessly wonderin' aloud. Could it ever be much different now. Remind me of the past, I slippped into a dream. Funny things ain't never what they seem.
Living like children, never doing what we are told. Would not hesitate to take a chance. That road behind me now is paved with fool's gold. It's almost time for the victory dance.
No more feelin' guilty for things I never did. Feelin' nothin' for my crimes. Livin' like a gypsy, dreamin' like a kid Make me old before your time.
There is a long hard road that winds so far behind me.
"Old Before My Time" by the Allman Brothers Band. I think we've all felt this way at one time or another.
